Sochi, The host city for the 2014 Winter Olympics, has sent a team of officials to Rimini to learn the lessons of tourism on the Adriatic riviera.
The resort city, on the Black Sea coast of Russia, in the Krasnodar Krai district has been twinned with Rimini since 1977, and as part of the continuing co-operation and dialogue between the two cities an official delegation has come to Rimini to see first-hand how the capital of the Adriatic Riviera deals with tourism.
In particular the team, led by the deputy president for tourism for the city, Aleksey Evgeniecich Grachev, were given a run-down on how Rimini utilizes its space, organises its life-saving teams, and prepares for major events like the huge Notte Rosa (which sees up to two million people celebrating along the Adriatic coast), or sporting events like next-weekend’s San Marino & Adriatic Riviera Moto Gp.
Sochi shares a similar position to Rimini in Russia, being the unofficial holiday capital of the country, with tourists flocking there to avail of its beaches and hotel infrastructure.
The city will play host to the 2014 Winter Olympics, and is a hive of activity at the moment as a result.
