It’s going to be a great summer for music in Rimini, with a whole range of Italian and International artists announcing concerts in the Riviera between June and September.
Perhaps the most exciting news is that Morrisey – who is a festival headliner in Italy – will be performing the only Italian shows of his current European tour in Rimini’s historic venue Velvet. We’ve already written about it here
Patti Smith, the legendary American songwriter and poet – who’s a regular visitor to Italy, where she enjoys mythic status – will be playing the final date of her Italian tour in the small and suggestive town of Sogliano al Rubicone on the 8th of July.
The Notte Rosa – the Riviera wide all-night long festival, this year being held on the 4th of july – always has a wide range of concerts as part of its program, and this year is no exception. The headliners at Rimini are Italian acts, with our personal favourite flame-haired singer Fiorella Mannoia taking the stage at Marina Centro.
There’s plenty on offer throughout the summer for indie and metal fans as well, with acts like Dillinger Escape Plan (Velvet 8th of July), and The Legends of Chaos tour with Testament, Kreator, and Cathedral (Velvet 6th of July) playing.
If you’re willing to travel, within easy reach of Rimini are various festivals including the Italia Wave festival (16th -19th of July in Livorno, with acts like Placebo, Kraftwerk, and Aphex twin headlining), the Pistoia Festival (with Lauryn Hill headlining (4th of July), and not to be outdone – a one day festival in Milan with headliners Oasis.
We’ll keep you posted for what will undoubtedly be a great summer for music in Rimini.
